Ok. So I’m not one to rant and rave about a service going down temporarily. I understand that, sometimes, things don’t work. That’s life. Still, Microsoft, you don’t need to be a dick about it.
When I quickly looked to see if my friends list had sorted itself out so that I can play some Pro Clubs with my buddies, I was greeted by this message.
“Sorry, we are unable to show your friends at the moment”.
That’s no problem, Microsoft, I accept your apology and I’m sure you’re working hard to rectify the issue.
But then I scrolled over to the ‘Leaderboard’ section and was greeted by this lovely message.
“You will not always be the Top performer. Once you get some friends you will be able to see how you stack up against them”.
… “once you get some friends”. Ouch. No need to twist the knife there, Microsoft. After all, it’s your fault that I don’t have any friends. It’s kind of a mean thing to say, but I know that I do usually have friends and once the section is sorted, all will be back to normal. It does make me feel for the people that don’t have any online friends, or friends with an Xbox One, however. What if that’s the message you see every time you log in to your Xbox One and casually scroll past the ‘Leaderboard’ section. I assume that’s what it says when you don’t have anyone in your friends list. It has got to be quite disheartening. I feel for those guys and gals, the Xbox Live friendless.
There are a lot of great games on the Xbox One, but it’s only recently (since the issues with Party Chat and now the Friends List) that I’ve realised how many of those games I enjoy for their multiplayer with friends. It has also led me to realise how much I like the new, updated Friends List. I like being able to see what my buddies are up to. I like watching their game-clips when they pop up on the news feed, or seeing their most recently earned achievements. Maybe that’s because I’m a bit of a stalker. Still, it’s nice to know that other people are having fun too.
If you’re wondering when the lack of friends issue will be sorted, join the club. Hopefully it will be soon, but I have noticed of late that the ‘Party’ system has been incredibly temperamental, as has the friends list as a whole. I wonder if maybe they cocked up with one of the recent updates? Who knows.
