So it looks like there are some very, very sharp cookies indeed inside the Xbox camp!
PS4 so far have dominated the Destiny marketing, making sure that they have all the rights to advertise the game, and it’s worked. The amount of people I speak to that think that Destiny is a PS4 exclusive is far too high. But what could Xbox do with no rights and no assets to work with. They create marketing magic, is what they do!
Being released as press Ads, Xbox have launched a new perfume, and guess what it’s called? That’s right, Destiny. Not marketing the game at all, they have managed to get their name all over Destiny anyway, it’s brilliant. Not only that, but they have partnered with Image Recognition company Blippar to bring their ads to life and be even funnier and more brilliant than before.
Upon scanning the image, a message pops up that they haven’t indeed created a fragrance and they admit that it’s a ploy to tell you about Destiny due to a lack of rights.
It’s a stroke of genius from the company who have seemed to miss the point so many times this generation and hopefully it is a sign that the marketing team will start to get their head screwed on in the future.
