There were a tonne of awesome games highlighted at this year’s E3. From more details on games we’re already looking forward to, like Call of Duty: WW2. To brand new IPs to druel over, like Anthem.
But there was one game which really stood out for me. It’s a game I’ve been looking forward to for some time. But we’ve been given very little information about it – just the occasional tease. This E3 has given us Ashen fans a much more substantial peek – and it looks amazing.
What’s Ashen? I hear you ask. Well, it’s an action RPG – kind of Dark Souls esque. Combat is, apparently, very unforgiving. But it’s also a game about forging relationships and surviving together. If you choose to do so.
Ashen has a big open world
From what I can tell, there’s no linear story. Apparently, no two games will be the same. I like the sounds of that. Plus, there’s a large open world to explore – result!
In general, it looks like it could be a great game. From what I’ve seen so far, of course. There’s a lot to be excited about – particularly if you’re an RPG fan like myself.
Granted, it might not be a game for the masses. It seems like a unique title, and that usually appeals to fewer people. If you’re looking for something unique from E3 2017, Ashen might be for you.
IGN got their hands on Ashen at E3. It looks as though, for the most part, they quite enjoyed it. But they did have one or two issues with it – particularly around the unforgiving combat.
There’s a load of potential
Still, I can certainly see a lot of potential with Ashen. Particularly in its design – which is pretty impressive. It’s not for everyone, sure. But much like with Telltale’s recent episodic adventures, Ashen’s design is unique and exciting.
Overall, I’m really looking forward to seeing more of Ashen in the coming months. Bring on 2018! Was Ashen one of your highlights of E3? Or do you have your eyes on a different title? Let me know in the comments below!
