I was a massive fan of Just Cause 2. Personally, I thought that it was a fantastic game. For me, it combined everything that I loved about games like Far Cry and even GTA, and plonked it all slap-bang in the middle of an open, immersive world where almost anything could happen.
There were a lot of mechanics in that game that were quite novel at the time, like the ability to latch on to moving vehicles (including planes) for instance. You were able to perch yourself on the back of a jet and pinch it from under the pilot’s nose – something that we can only dream of in GTA V – unless you’re rather lucky with a mechanics glitch. But, of course, it also had a deep story with plenty to see and do. That’s why I’ve been eagerly awaiting this reveal trailer, and judging by the clip, (running at just under two minutes long), my eagerness is well placed.
You can find the trailer on Just Cause’s YouTube channel, here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LR4EBYeh8BQ
Even though the clip is incredibly short, and gives away almost nothing about the story, it’s safe to assume that the core of Just Cause 2 will be coming back for the third instalment. That core being destructible environments, an open world, and exciting game mechanics. Not only that, but it appears as though it’s going to be bigger and better than before – more explosions, more crashes and more death-defying stunts. In that short video, I saw everything that I loved about Just Cause 2 – so I’m definitely itching to see more.
It would be impossible to judge the game’s content from such a short video, but it’s safe to say that Just Cause 3 will be re-invigorating much of what we loved on the old-gen consoles, for the new-gen market. Avalanche Studios has developed all three Just Cause games so far, and Square Enix has had a hand in all three too, so it’s good that the team will be back to make, produce and distribute the third. Avalanche is also behind the upcoming Mad Max game, which looks equally epic (and we’ve seen much more of that). So I’m looking forward to seeing more of Just Cause 3, too. Overall, the trailer has shown off a lot of the gameplay mechanics already, as well as the crisp looking graphics. As far as I can tell, this game will just be released on the current-gen consoles and PC, so I’m assuming that it’s going to be quite expansive.
