Having finally beating Final Fantasy 9 after 15 years of the game being released, the sense of achievement feels amazing. These old games hold a special place in any gamer’s heart. Being able to finish a journey started so long ago means way more than beating the latest Call of Duty. Yet these games are uniquely individual, such is the variety of gaming. Anyone would be able to look back at older games and find one or two they desperately want to play again.
With that in mind, here are some suggestions of classics that are easily accessible on PlayStation consoles and ones that make it onto my personal bucket list.
The Final Fantasy Series
For me, it’s 8,9,10 & 12 but there are so many that I am sure almost every gamer has some kind of Final Fantasy experience. With 1 – 10-2 available to play on Vita and 12 coming to PS4 next year there is little stopping anyone from re-embarking on these epic journeys.
Developed by the then SCEE Studio Cambridge & released in 2003 Primal is a game that is either forgotten or revered by the PlayStation community. Recently released on the PS4 we can once again take the opportunity to give this game another shot.
Primal tells the story of Jennifer Tate, a woman searching for her boyfriend though a variety of daemon worlds accompanied by her companion Scree. During her travels, she harnesses the power to change her form and discovers more about her past than she realised.
With some great gameplay and interesting story, Primal is well worth checking out.
GTA Vice City
You could add many GTA games here but I am sticking with Vice City. VC added a layer of colour & 80’s charm that made it so much fun to play. Thanks to the rereleased version on the PS4, gamers can now play it on the latest consoles.
Running around Vice City as Tommy Vercetti, getting involved in shootouts and car chases was enough to excite anyone at the time. But away from the traditional gritty feel of GTA, Vice City was fun & vibrant, making it an absolute fan favorite.
