Here’s what Pokémon Go should have looked like

A Pokémon fan has redesigned the entire Pokémon Go UI, and I love it.

I won’t bore you all with my take on how the landscape of the game has changed since its launch, but let’s just say that I (and a large portion of the Pokémon Go community it would seem) feel that the game is lacking somewhat. That being said, there is some solace to be found in the fact that Niantic has recently started blogging about their plans. So, I guess we’re stuck in this ‘wait and see’ kind of limbo for now.

Amidst all the complaints and venting you can find online, some players have actually been constructively critical – calling for specific new features, feeding back on updates, and reporting bugs.

Dutch UI/UX Design graduate Wendy Borg has gone even further, taking it upon herself to completely redesign the games’ (IMHO) clunky UI from top to bottom. Wendy has even added in concepts for widely sought-after features like in-game trading and PvP.

I’m a big lover of minimalistic, clean, flat UI design – and Wendy’s concept has it all down to a T. She’s even gone further to include concepts for new features and tweaks that are completely player-centric, all (in her words) providing a “more reliable and rewarding experience”.

Now I know this is literally just a concept – but it’s awesome, right? I’d go as far as to say this is a visual compilation of pretty much everything the community has been asking for. A great discussion point for the Dev’s over at Niantic Labs. An entire community’s worth of player feedback on a silver platter.

Here’s hoping that Wendy’s concept gets on their radar or that, at the very least, it contributes somewhat to their update plans and that it isn’t too much longer before we start seeing seismic improvements on the game that has undeniably taken the world by storm.

What do you think of Wendy’s design? What feature would you most want to add to Pokémon Go if you were given the chance?

    How it “should” look?

    • H0NEYL00PS

      As in pre-release. IMHO.

Isn’t that more of a “How I’d have WANTED it to look” sorta thing?

        • H0NEYL00PS

Sure 😛 So I guess for the purposes of the article take it as ‘written by an infuriatingly arrogant authority whose demands & desires should be taken as golden advice and WHAT I SAY IS TRUE AND YOU MUST LISTEN BECAUSE I AM RIGHT’.

Yeah, once I had posted I clocked the 04/08/16 publish date, so I guessed it would have been around already.

The Plus and Minus buttons in the buy screen are too small and placed too close to the actual buy button, not very “finger friendly”, aside form that, it doesn’t look bad, some things such as the multi-transfer option would be a nice addition to the application…

You’re right about the button sizes, and I very much agree! It seems like she’s taken the majority of the most common requested features among the community and encapsulated it all in her mockup. +1 in my book.
